Interfaith Voices for Just Climate Action · COP32 Campaign

Africa Can't Wait.

A global interfaith movement demanding implementation of climate action, on the road to COP32 in Addis Ababa.

About the Campaign

Africa is on the frontline of a crisis it did the least to cause.

Africa is home to the world's fastest-growing youth population, rich critical minerals deposits, great renewable energy potential, and communities already leading the way on climate solutions. It's also on the frontline of a crisis it did the least to cause.

Global climate talks have produced plenty of ambition. What’s missing is delivery, and delivery that’s fair. We’re building a movement of Interfaith Leaders, Youths, Policy Makers, Governments and partners across every sector to hold decision-makers to account for the just implementation of Climate Action. As the global climate discourse moves through COP31 towards COP32 in Addis Ababa, interfaith communities across Africa are standing together to demand one thing: that climate promises finally become climate action, delivered fairly, and delivered where it’s needed most.

The campaign's core advocacy ask is that implementation of climate commitments, on adaptation, finance and just transition, must be:

Equitable

Ensuring that those least responsible for the climate crisis are not left to carry its heaviest costs.

Rights-Centred

Protecting the rights of affected communities, including women, youth and indigenous groups, throughout implementation.

Locally Led

Giving communities and local institutions, including faith actors, a central role in shaping and delivering solutions.

Inclusive

Open to delivery and buy-in from faith groups and institutions, the private sector and civil society organisations alike.

The Goal

1,000,000 Voices.

One Demand.

Goal Statement: Raise one million signatures in support of just implementation of climate action

One million signatures. Not a symbolic gesture, a mandate. A number too large for governments, negotiators and institutions to ignore, and proof that the demand for just implementation comes from the people, not just the podiums.

Every signature is a statement: that climate finance must reach the communities it's meant for, that adaptation must be locally led, and that those who did the least to cause this crisis will not be left to carry its heaviest costs.

Campaign Objectives

Four objectives. One movement for climate justice.

01

Strategic Mobilisation

Advance strategic mobilisation of faith leaders and actors to advocate for ambitious, just and rights-centred implementation of commitments on adaptation, climate finance, just transition and limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C.

02

Showcase Evidence of Just Climate Implementation

Showcase implementation realities already being delivered by faith actors, connecting this evidence to climate policy discussions at national, regional and global levels to promote policies that support just implementation.

03

Amplify Climate Leadership

Amplify Africa's climate leadership through digital campaigns, storytelling, theological reflection and media engagement in the lead up to COP32.

04

Raise One Million Signatures

Raise a million signatures in support for the call for Just Climate Implementation

Four Tracks. One Movement.

However you or your organisation is already acting on climate, there's a track for you.

Climate Finance

Advocating for climate finance that actually reaches the people and institutions delivering on the ground.

Adaptation, Resilience & Loss and Damage

Backing locally led adaptation and loss and damage response, and showcasing the impact it's already having.

Renewable Energy & Clean Cooking

Pushing for decentralised, equitable access to clean energy and clean cooking solutions.

Restoration & Nature-Based Solutions

Standing behind community-led and indigenous-knowledge-driven restoration of forests, wetlands and mangroves.
